The Way of Wisdom – Women’s Bible Study

October 12 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

About the Study

The book of Proverbs presents two very different ways to live. One is shaped by the wisdom of God and leads toward spiritual maturity, healthy relationships, and a life that honors Him. The other is guided by temporary desires and human understanding, ultimately leading us away from what is good and lasting.

Although Proverbs was written thousands of years ago, its instruction speaks directly to the choices women face today. Its teachings address how we communicate, work, manage money, build relationships, lead others, care for our families, and navigate everyday responsibilities.

In The Way of Wisdom, Bible teachers Jen Wilkin, Ruth Chou Simons, Kelly Minter, Adrienne Camp, Elizabeth Woodson, and Courtney Doctor guide participants through the practical and spiritual wisdom found throughout Proverbs. Together, we will explore what it means to recognize God’s direction, reject the empty promises of worldly wisdom, and faithfully follow His way in every area of life.

Video Session Overview

Session One: Introduction — The Beginning of Wisdom

Jen Wilkin, Ruth Chou Simons, Kelly Minter, Adrienne Camp, Elizabeth Woodson, and Courtney Doctor begin the study with a conversation about the meaning of godly wisdom. They discuss the characteristics of a wise woman and share how the book of Proverbs has influenced their own faith and lives.

Session Two: Two Paths, Two Women

Jen Wilkin examines Proverbs 1–9, which establishes the foundation for the remainder of the book. This session introduces Lady Wisdom and Lady Folly, two symbolic figures who illustrate the blessings of choosing wisdom and the consequences of turning away from it.

Session Three: Wisdom in Our Words

Ruth Chou Simons explores how the wisdom of God should influence the way we speak. Wise communication is not simply a method for gaining approval or controlling outcomes. It reflects the character of God and uses words in ways that bring Him glory and serve others well.

Session Four: Wisdom in Friendship and Neighborliness

Kelly Minter considers how Proverbs can guide our relationships with friends, neighbors, and the people God places around us. She connects its teachings with the New Testament call to demonstrate compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, and love.

Session Five: Wisdom at Home

Adrienne Camp leads a discussion with Courtney Doctor, Ruth Chou Simons, and Jen Wilkin about practicing wisdom within the home. Their conversation addresses marriage, parenting, caring for aging family members, and serving as spiritual mothers and mentors to other women in the church.

Session Six: Wisdom in Work, Wealth, and Leadership

Elizabeth Woodson explores the responsibility of wisely managing everything God has placed in our care. This includes our money, time, careers, abilities, influence, and relationships. Participants will consider how faithful stewardship can honor God in both ordinary and significant decisions.

Session Seven: Training a Wise Heart

Courtney Doctor explains that true wisdom cannot be achieved through determination or self-improvement alone. A wise heart develops as we know, love, and follow Jesus Christ, the One in whom perfect wisdom is found.

Session Eight: A Portrait of Wisdom

Jen Wilkin concludes the study with a verse-by-verse examination of Proverbs 31. Rather than treating the chapter as an isolated description, she shows how it reflects the central themes and teachings found throughout the entire book of Proverbs.
