Overland Park Baptist seeks to worship in a blended style that brings together all ages and backgrounds. Our goal is to be intergenerational, multicultural, doctrinally sound, and faithful to God through the music we sing and play in His name.
Opportunities to serve in our worship ministry include choir, orchestra, band, praise team, and audio-visual technology.
Our choir sings every Sunday morning as well as some special services throughout the year. Anybody with a testimony of faith and a willingness to use their voice for God is welcome. The Choir meets at 7:45 pm Wednesday night for rehearsals.
Our orchestra plays during our congregational worship every Sunday morning and occasionally joins in playing with our choir and band during a special on Sunday mornings. The Orchestra meets at 8:45 am on Sunday mornings for rehearsals.
Our band plays every Sunday morning for our congregational worship and occasionally for special services throughout the year such as Christmas Eve and our Missions Conference. The Band meets at 8:45 am on Sunday mornings for rehearsals
Pastor Carson approaches worship ministry with prayerful intentionality, seeking both to faithfully serve the congregation and to glorify God through music. He carefully evaluates song lyrics for biblical truth and theological integrity, choosing music that honors Christ and aligns with Scripture.
Carson grew up at Overland Park Baptist and has been actively involved in the music ministry for most of his life. After receiving a music degree from MidAmerica Nazarene University, he worked under the Senior Worship Pastor at another local church before the Lord led him back to Overland Park Baptist to serve as the Worship Pastor after the retirement of his longtime mentor Larry Jones.
